Renaissance Award 2018

RFHK WEB 800X450 2

Demonstrating the strength of innovation and reconstructing a new order of creation

The Renaissance Award, founded by the Renaissance Foundation Hong Kong, roots its mission in encouraging creators from Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan to carry on the independent spirit in art through their new creations and pioneering projects.

The Renaissance Foundation believes that Renaissance itself is a concept for pioneers and leaders of change. Thus, the Renaissance Award is an award unlike others – it is not to award reputations, but missions and passionate hearts. What is to be shared are not speeches, but the issues reflected in the projects and their creative spirits. It is hoped that winners will hold onto their missions to create and contribute more in this day and age.

The Renaissance Award especially intends to encourage new creators. Nominated artists' project must be produced only within the past year. Nominated art works will be judged by its innovation, professional reception, and social impact (50% for innovation and 50% for professional reception and social impact). Projects are nominated by industry professionals. Based on all the nominations, the Renaissance Foundation will compile a shortlist and confirm the winners.

The Renaissance Award aims to demonstrate the innovative strength of each project, and to reconstruct a new order of creation. It is hoped that this award will become a new iconic award in the Chinese community.
