What is meant by popular? What is meant by alternative? In an “open society”, ordinary life experience interacts with independent artistic and creative production. The popular and the alternative are not always a dichotomy. In the contrast, they are both nutrients and challenges to each other, through which, finally, they walk side by side. Creativity intervenes the society and interferes in the community. However, in the age of social media, is it that the alternative changes the popular, or vice versa? What kind of problem does independent artists face? Where are the creative boundaries to be broken through? It is these questions that boost our creativity, possibility and interactivity among diverse forms of arts.

“Plentiful Pluralities: Renaissance Festival 2017” exhibiting works of young artists show us how arts can interact with ordinary lives and communities and leads to newness. In this festival, various activities and works of different media will be included: “Human Images” biographizing a hundred elders through images; “Transform.People” drama workshop incorporating the five senses and imagination through developmental transforming drama therapy for self-healing in the ever-changing world; a corner for relieving feelings, investigating how music can be so pleasant to intervene the ordinary life; “Lost Names” reflecting on the fragmentation of social media, proposing an anonymous writing to rehabilitate the publicity of writing; “the Consignment Store of Arts" showing the connection between young artists and the community.
